I adopted Baxter from you in 2009, he was surrendered by his family - age 4 - he was with you almost a year. Best dog I ever had ! Loved everyone, and he saved Daisy I got from you in 2013 - age 9 - day after you got her. Surrendered after 9 yrs tied to tree. Baxter visited you guys to test other skittish dogs 7 times always successfully, he taught 6 puppies to walk on leash. Rode with me OH to NH 9 times 2 to see my mom in nursing home in MA. He lived in OH and NH. Died Oct 2017 Daisy 6 wks later, she gave up when he died. Broke our hearts. Miss them

I adopted Maggie in July 2013, and it was the best decision I've ever made. These last 13 years with my best friend have brought countless wonderful memories. Even though she's slowed down a bit at almost 15 years old, she still gets excited to go outside and tell the neighbors what she thinks and does a great job keeping the squirrels and rabbits out of the backyard. I couldn't have asked for a better companion, and I'm so grateful for every moment we've shared. Plus, she's in the middle of the Humane Society of Preble County cover photo, how cool is that?

We adopted Ringo in November in 2014, and just had to send him over the Rainbow Bridge about a week ago. He was the sweetest boy, he always brought me a toy when I walked through the door, and always slept on a dog pillow on the floor by my side of the bed every night. He loved the occasional sweet and bananas and loved to go on walks and hikes. He was a regal gentleman and was so proud to do his big trick of shaking hands. My husband and I miss him terribly, but I'm so glad that we were able to adopt him so many years ago and give him a happy life with our other pups.

Oliver (formerly Luke, 2017) & Willie (formerly Dolan, 2019) are a bonded pair now. The boys love to travel & have often stayed in pet-friendly hotels. They enjoy spending time at their lake house & frequently walk along Ohio's Most Beautiful Mile. The attached picture is their life aboard the boat. They were enjoying the air conditioned cabin on a warm summer day.

Oct. 2 [2026] will be one year of having our Kenobi (aka Obi for short) who was formerly Truman before we adopted him. We did a DNA test on him and his 3 prominent breeds are Husky, Bluetick Coonhound, and Pitbull. 12% German shepherd, 7% chow (which is his curly fry looking tail) and 5% boxer. He is so very smart. He knows 20+ tricks. He loves to play in water! He can be destructive when left alone but we are working on that lol. He has brought so much joy! He has helped heal us after unexpectedly losing our fur baby last Sep. Obi completes our family.

In 2012 I was working at Town and Country Vet. My hubs and I had a Jack Russell and we were ready to expand our family. The bird litter came in to be fixed and I fell in love with "Mallard". We adopted him and named him Indy, he has been the most perfect companion for 14 years now. He has slowed down a bit but the love we have for each other is forever♡♡

I adopted Ellie (formerly Giselle) in 2014. She ended up being one of the best decisions I ever made. The sweetest girl with the goofiest personality. She loved people and got attention everywhere we went. I lost her to cancer this year in April. She lived a life full of love, cuddles, adventures, and treats. I got 12 great years with her and miss her every day.

Hi! My name is Autumn but my family and friends call me Pooper. I was adopted at 6 months old from the shelter and went to my forever home. My sister from another dog mother, Dora (also from the shelter) beat me there by a few months. I'm now 14 1/2 years old! My likes are 2 sausages when I get up, naps, chicken jerky and one treat before bed. My dislikes are potatoes, the fly swatter (even though I've never been hit!!!!), lightning and any time mom leaves the house. I lost my sister Dora in 2025 and we miss her so much but I still have my human brother and sister, they're just all grown up now! I'll always be grateful my parents went to the shelter and found me and my sister and I hope all the other dogs (and yes, even cats!!!), will be just as lucky!
